Dr. Michael Arner

Chief Technology Officer

My name is Michael Arner, people around the office know me as “Arner” — or, if they knew me in a previous life, occasionally as “The Doctor.” I learned Mathematics and Computer Science at Carnegie-Mellon University, but most everything I know about being a Chief Technology Officer was under the mentorship of Master Strategist, David Perlman. When I tell people what I do for a living, I am sure to include the footnote that updating printer drivers on their decade-old desktop is widely considered to be outside of that job description. When someone asks my friends what I do for a living, they ordinarily reply that they don’t know but, whatever it is, it seems to represent a colossal betrayal of the English Department. If I could only have one app on my Android Note 4, it would be RoamAbout Version 6.0 (too bad it isn’t quite completed yet—by this time next quarter though…..) When it comes to Software Development, my motto echoes what Walter Benjamin said about prose, it has three steps: a musical stage when it is composed, an architectonic one when it is built, and a textile one when it is woven."
